Where we are:

The Languedoc-Roussillon  area offers more than enough to satisfy the most demanding traveller. In Spring the beauty of the region is enhanced by miles of beautiful blossom from the peach and apricot orchards. Summer the vines are laden with grapes ripening in the warm sunshine. Autumn brings the harvests, in this valley apples are the order of the day. Winter brings snow to the Pyrenees with skiing the pleasure of the season, our nearby ski resorts, seven in all, are from 45 mins. away.

If you are into extreme sports they can all be done from here, with some of the worlds greatest climbing very nearby. The terrine is suitable for all, from beginner to the most experienced climbers. We can arrange guides if you wish, also accomadation for up to 12.

Fuilla is a very peaceful, typical village of the region. It benefits from being located so close to the Canigou mountain giving walkers and cyclists a great starting off point for some fantastic tours. So why not give it a go and walk to Pic du Canigou!

The house is a short drive (4 km) from the recently nominated UNESCO world heritage site of Villefranche-de-Conflent. Fuilla also benefits from a small cafe just a short walk away and there is a grocery store and boulangerie in the nearby village of Sahorre which is easily walked, so it’s easy to forget about the car for a few days, relax and unwind. It also has easy access to the main road between Perpignan and Andorra which allows the surrounding area to be easily explored.

The nearest main town, just a few kilometres away, is Prades. A thriving market town, Prades has many great shops and restaurants as well as a lively market on both Tuesday and Saturday mornings, where you can buy local produce such as the peaches and cherries that are grown in abundance nearby, fresh vegetables, wonderful cheeses…. and of course the excellent wine!

There are events and festivals throughout the year. Spanish cellist Pablo Casals fled to Prades during the Spanish civil war, stayed and established the festival that now bears his name. The Catalan summer school takes over the town for two weeks in August, and there is dancing in the square every night during this period.

Weather:

We benefit from being in the sunniest region of France, and enjoy warm, sunny weather from March all the way through to October. November and December are cooler but still with sunshine. January, February and March are great skiing months (50 minutes drive to the ski resorts).
